When making armored thermocouples with armored thermocouple cables, they are generally cut into multiple sections, resulting in the exposure of magnesium oxide insulating powder to the air, and magnesium oxide powder has strong hygroscopicity, which is bound to have air A large amount of water enters into the magnesium oxide, causing the insulation resistance to drop and affecting the accuracy of high temperature measurement. Therefore, we recommend that in the process of making armored thermocouples, after the hot end is sealed and welded and the cold end is stripped of the measuring wire, the The whole thermocouple is placed in a constant temperature box at 200-250°C to drain moisture for 12-24 hours (for thermocouple cables with a length of less than one meter, the temperature and time can be reduced accordingly), and then take out and quickly seal with epoxy resin. Unused armored thermocouple cable should also be sealed with epoxy resin immediately for next use.
